Hannah Hearts...

This first  (half of the) week of camp has been very…repetitive. There are only two people on support staff this week, myself and Laura. As a result, we have cleaned all the toilets on the property every morning, along with breakfast dishes. OH YEAH! (We can, however, do dishpit in about 45 minutes, cleaning included.)

I’ve gotten some bonding time with the kittens and been great friends with the smaller groups of Braves and Pathfinders. While I prefer to interact with our older campers, it is always refreshing to see the energy and creativity (and great quotes) that a cabin of 7 year old boys have. 

Yay for face paint and swim time.

So I took a break for a while to a) take exams, b) clean my room at home once I got there, c) pack for camp and d) be at camp.

And now I’m here, at the place I consider to be my second home in the world. I have a great family of friends, one that has already grown as new people joined our staff. We have kittens that we are training to be mice catchers and generally fierce and outdoorsy. I love cats, I really love kittens so I am in heaven right now. There is nothing that a kitten can’t make adorable and our Thor and Freya have already convinced some lifelong dog lovers that cats can be cool too. 

We have a few more days of staff training before our first week of campers and I am more excited than I have ever been in my previous three years. We’ve implemented a lot of new procedures and attitudes that all serve as reminders of why I think that camping is great for all kids. 

My posts during the summer will move away from instructional/reviews to more of points of interest in my life. And you best believe I will have some amazing camper quotes by the end of these 8 weeks.
