2011 is going out with a bang
and some awesome music. I’ll be ringing in the new year with some of my best friends and The Avett Brothers. I cannot wait. The last week has been one of the best of this year. There really aren’t words for how excited I am.

I'm probably eating brownies right now...
at my camp reunion. I’m probably knitting, drinking Irish Hot Chocolate, and watching some terrible blockbuster movie in a Cosby sweater. Be jealous. Day 12: Where do you keep your stash? Post pictures! I keep the majority of my yarn, books, and not in use needles in a giant plastic box, under my bed at school. I also store fabric for sewing projects in that box. At some point I may post...

On this topic...
Day 11’s question is oddly relevant to something I’ve been thinking about lately. It asks if I have a “knitter hero” or someone that is just way too awesome for their own good to look up to. I don’t really have a knitting or crafting hero, mostly because I’ve always loved that crafting is about creation and simply by doing something you add a bit of yourself to...

Yesterday was pajama day at our house
Day 9: What fiber or yarn do you love working with?  I really like Lion Brand and Vanna’s Choice. However, as I have increased my knitting projects and need more colors I’ve turned to I love this Yarn in solids. It’s softer than Red Heart and you get a good deal of regular weight. I also knit a fair amount in Lion Brand’s Homespun collection. Day 10: Do you have a...

And other things that are creepy when taken out of context. Day 6: What is your favorite piece that you’ve knit? The hat I just finished for Chelsea. It’s the most professional looking thing I’ve ever knit. Day 7: Your least favorite? A blue scarf I made out of color changing Red Heart yarn. It curled weird, it’s not soft, and it’s tacky looking. I unraveled it...

Tis the season for terrible Christmas movies
Day 5: How long did it take from the time you learned how to knit, to finish your first project? A few weeks. I taught myself and then I had something to work on during recruitment. I was knitting hard all through those two weeks.

OH CRAP
I guess I’m staying awake. There’s a movie on; fairy tales that star Matt Damon and Heath Ledger. Oh Syfy how do you know me so well? First Batman Forever and now The Brothers Grimm.

Day 4: How did you learn to knit? I taught myself over winter break my sophomore year. It was a struggle to make a 5 inch square based off of internet instructions. I barely finished it by the end of Sophie’s Choice.

Day 3: Do you have any other WIP? I’m getting ready to start an earflap hat for one of my littles. I’m super excited about it even though I’ve never done one before.

Day 2: What’s currently on your needles? The almost completed hat for my mom to match a scarf I made her. She bought yarn a year ago and gave it to me and it’s taken me this long to get around to it.

I
Today I am beginning the 30 Days of Knitting questionnaire. I figured it was appropriate since I am crafting a large majority of my gifts for my peers. So here we go: Day 1: What was your first completed project? The first thing I ever made was a scarf. I used bumpy purple yarn and started on (American) size 9 needles. I was about 8 inches in before I realized how thick the result was and...

Dear Packers,
I am very upset with today’s game. I am disheartened by the loss however I will always remain faithful because we are a family. And because this does not signal a downward spiral. Instead this is a call to practice, to not get cocky, and to continue to play good football. I’ll admit that some of it may have been my fault as I was not with you all the way today. I know that you have it...

paxvalkyrie: tehwhovianhufflepuff: Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes. She has problems with closet space because she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve. Find a girl who reads. You’ll know that… So here’s a classic case of “I’m trying to say a good thing...

Hoodrat
Firstly it sounds like a word I would use because it’s a combination of two fairly unrelated words. Love that*. Second, I haven’t really ever done anything that I would count as ‘hoodrat’ but I really want to so I can use the word and not be a poser or some weird white girl misusing slang. Third: I think I would actually enjoy doing activities that qualify as...

How I Write Essays

Yeah, that’s right, I have to outline shit after I write a few pages because getting my thoughts down first is the only way I actually get it written. Logical...

I heart procrastination
Guyzzzz- procrastination is my JAM. And as it is finals time and I am actually well positioned in my workload if I were to actually start doing it, I will instead post about things I meant to post about weeks ago.* So pre-American Thanksgiving I got really into the fall spirit and decided to have a baking day. I had a rough week and wanted to celebrate surviving it by trying out a few new...

I Want to Die an English Major's Death of Honor
rubbishbinangel: I want my room mate to find me laying on my bed covered in paper cuts surrounded by coke cans, smartie and resee’s cup wrappers, papers, and research with my final papers just waiting to be printed.  If this happens to me, please come find me and put me in the shower. It’s ok if I still have close on.

I heart these guys
My favorite players from tonight’s (entirely too stressful, too close, blargh fourth quarter) game.  Clay Matthews- his flying leap at Manning’s back was just fun to watch. Even better? When he picked that ball and ran it in for a TD. Way to be a BEAST. Donald Driver- This guy had a solid game. When Finley was dropping balls like a teenage boy this guy was making sure he landed...
